Private James Alexander McGuire

Born on 12 June 1880 in New York City, New York - son of Dr. F.A. McGuire, New York City, New York - at the time of his enlistment in 1915: trade as accountant; single; no current or previous military service; Church of England; height of 5 feet 5.5 inches; chest of 34.5 inches fully expanded; fair complexion; blue eyes; light brown hair.

Joined the 38th Battalion, CEF, in Montreal, Quebec, on 12 May 1915 (number 411163) - transferred to Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry on 17 July 1915 - commissioned and promoted to Lieutenant - transferred to the imperial Army Tank Corps on 26 August 1917.
