Born on 11 June 1892 in Kinmount, Ontario - son of Mrs. Louise McKinley, Kinmount, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1915: present address in Kinmount, Ontario; trade as teamster; married; no current or previous military service; Presbyterian; height of 5 feet 5.25 inches; chest of 37.5 inches fully expanded; fair complexion; blue eyes; dark red hair.

Joined the 109th Battalion, CEF, in Kinmount, Ontario, on 24 December 1915 (number 726043) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 4 or 6 December 1916 - invalided sick to England on 17 January 1918.
