Born on 10 May 1885 in Glasgow, Scotland - husband of Janet McKnight, Metcalfe, Ontario - son of David and Pearl McKnight, Glasgow, Scotland - at the time of his enlistment in 1916: present address in Metcalfe, Ontario; trade as farmer; married; no current or previous military service; Presbyterian; height of 5 feet 5.75 inches; chest of 42 inches fully expanded; fair complexion; blue eyes; light brown hair.

Joined the 154th Battalion, CEF, in Ottawa, Ontario, on 14 March 1916 (number 633942) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 24 May 1917 - killed in action on 30 October 1917 - buried in Tyne Cot Cemetery (grave XXXIX.A.14), Belgium
