Born on 28 November 1894 in Seamore, Hastings County, Ontario - friend of William Nelson, Ayton, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1917: present address in Owen Sound, Ontario; trade as farmer; single; no current or previous military service; Presbyterian; height of 5 feet 9 inches; chest of 34.5 inches fully expanded; ruddy complexion; grey eyes; brown hair.

Joined the 248th Battalion, CEF, in Owen Sound, Ontario, on 19 February 1917 (number 1066204) - taken on the strength of the 58th Battalion, CEF, on 9 November 1917 - transferred to the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 12 or 13 August 1918 - wounded on 27 September 1918 - rejoined the 38th Battalion on 2 November 1918 - struck off the strength of the 38th Battalion on 5 December 1918.
