Private James Nelson Stephens

Born on 10 April 1889 in Owen Sound, Ontario - son of Nelson James Stephens, Owen Sound, Ontario - at the time of his conscription in 1918: present address same as father; single; Methodist; trade as locomotive engineer; no current or previous military service; height of 5 feet 11 inches; chest of 36.5 inches fully expanded; fair complexion; blue eyes; light hair.

Conscripted into the 1st Depot Battalion, Eastern Ontario Regiment, CEF, in Kingston, Ontario, on 21 March 1918 (number 3057020) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 12 or 13 September 1918 - struck off the strength of the 38th Battalion on 16 June 1919.
