Born on 21 August 1878 in Lancashire, England - husband of Ada Mary Sanderson, Toronto, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1916: present address same as wife; trade as butcher; married; no current or previous military service; Church of England; height of 5 feet 4.5 inches; chest of 36 inches fully expanded; fair complexion; blue eyes; fair hair.

Joined the 204th Battalion, CEF, in Toronto, Ontario, on 19 May 1916 (number 237862) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 27 or 28 March 1918 - invalided sick to England on 24 September 1918.
