Born on 22 October 1893 or 1896 in Glasgow, Scotland - related to George Scott, Glasgow, Scotland - friend of Thomas Smirl[?], Mountain, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1915: trade as labourer; single; no current military service; previously served with the 56th Regiment (three months); Presbyterian; height of 5 feet 2 inches; chest of 35 inches fully expanded; medium complexion; blue grey eyes; light brown hair.

Joined the 77th Battalion, CEF, in Ottawa, Ontario, on 26 August 1915 (number 145075) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, in Bermuda on 6 December 1915 - struck off the strength of the 38th Battalion on 25 May 1916 - joined the Reinforcing Draft, 2nd Battalion, CEF, in Ottawa, Ontario, on 17 January 1917 (number 2043012) - taken on the strength of the 2nd Battalion, CEF, on 5 June 1917 - wounded on 27 or 29 July 1918.
