Joined the 38th Battalion, CEF, in Ottawa, Ontario, on 1 March 1915 (number 410408) - transferred to the 2nd Battalion, CEF, on 25 August 1915 - wounded on 22 September 1915 - wounded on 25 September 1916.
Last known address was on Parkdale Avenue, Ottawa, Ontario - the same address as his brother Hugh Handyside. Their other brother, Ernest Handyside, was killed during the war.
