Joined the 91st Battalion, CEF, in St. Thomas, Ontario, on 25 March 1916 (number 190203) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 20 or 21 August 1916 - invalided sick to England on 29 August 1916 - rejoined the 38th Battalion on 27 June 1917 - transferred to the Canadian Labour Pool on 26 April 1918 - transferred to the Canadian Forestry Corps on 2 May 1918.
