Private William Hands

Born on 19 July 1898 in Newcastle, England - son of Harry Hands, Ottawa, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1916: present address same as father, trade as clerk, single, currently a member of the Governor General's Foot Guards (one year), no previous military service, Congregationalist, height of 5 feet 7 inches, chest of 33 inches fully expanded, medium complexion, blue eyes, brown hair.

Joined the 207th Battalion, CEF, in Ottawa, Ontario, on 1 May 1916 (number 246191) as a member of the bugle band - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 2 or 3 August 1918 - wounded on 28 September 1918 - rejoined the 38th Battalion on 23 December 1918 - struck off the strength of the 38th Battalion on 16 June 1919.
