Private James McNicol

Born on 31 August 1885 in Renfrew, Ontario - son of Mrs. Janet McNicol, Renfrew, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1915: trade as brakesman; single; no current military service; previously served with the 42nd Regiment (nine years); Presbyterian; height of 5 feet 8 inches; chest of 38.5 inches fully expanded; fair complexion; brown eyes; dark hair.

Joined the 38th Battalion, CEF, in Smiths Falls, Ontario, on 4 January 1915 (number 410781) - transferred to the 2nd Battalion, CEF, on 25 August 1915 - wounded on 1 or 5 September 1916.
