Corporal John McNeil

Born on 10 September 1872 in Christ Church, New Zealand - husband of Margaret McNeil, Ottawa, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1915: trade as plasterer; married; no current military service; previously served as a trooper with the Victoria Mounted Rifles (two years); height of 5 feet 9 inches; chest of 33 inches fully expanded; ruddy complexion; hazel eyes; black hair.

Joined the 38th Battalion, CEF, in Ottawa, Ontario, on 24 February 1915 (number 410153) - served with the 38th Battalion during its period of garrison duty in Bermuda - struck off the strength of the 38th Battalion in England on 2 August 1916.
