Private John Francis Sias

Born on 29 January 1883 in New York, New York - son og John Francis Sias, Brooklyn, New York - brother of Elmer E. Sias, Brooklyn, New York - at the time of his enlistment in 1916: present address in Detroit, Michigan; trade as tinsmith; single; no current military service; previously served with the US Army (six years); Roman Catholic; height of 5 feet 10 inches; chest of 38 inches fully expanded; ruddy complexion; blue eyes; light brown hair.

Joined the 97th Battalion, CEF, in Windsor, Ontario, on 29 February 1916 (number 208048) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 3 or 4 May 1917 - wounded on 26 or 27 June 1917 - died of those wounds on 6 July 1917 - buried in Bruay Communal Cemetery Extension (grave H.9), France.
