Born on 15 May 1872 in Dublin, Ireland - husband of Ruth Sheridan, City View, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1916: present address in City View, Ontario; trade as farm laborer; married; no current military service; previously served with the 43rd Regiment Duke of Cornwall's Own Rifles (four years); Methodist; height of 5 feet 10.5 inches; chest of 38 inches fully expanded; dark complexion; brown eyes; black hair.

Joined the 207th Battalion, CEF, in Ottawa, Ontario, on 20 July 1916 (number 246629) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 26 or 27 September 1917 - transferred to the Canadian Labour Pool, CEF, on 27 February 1918 - later served with the Canadian Army Medical Corps, CEF.
