Private Charles Rupert Shorter

Born on 17 March 1899 in Ottawa, Ontario - brother of A.E. Shorter, Ottawa, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1917: present address same as brother; trade as clerk; single; no current or previous military service; Church of England; height of 5 feet 6.5 inches; chest of 36 inches fully expanded; medium complexion; dark eyes; fair hair.

Joined the 3rd Section, Divisional Ammunition Column, CEF, in Ottawa, Ontario, on 9 April 1917 (number 2043061) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 11 or 12 July 1917 - struck off strength to Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry on 28 November 1917.
