Lieutenant Walter Lloyd Sheffield

Born on 25 May 1897 in Arnprior, Ontario - son of Mrs. Charles Sheffield, Arnprior, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1916: trade as laborer; single; no current or previous military service; Baptist; height of 5 feet 9 inches; chest of 35.5 inches fully expanded; medium complexion; grey eyes; light brown hair.

Joined the 51st Battery, CEF, in Ottawa, Ontario, on 6 March 1916 (number 319976) - [then] - joined the 74th Battery, Canadian Field Artillery, CEF, on 17 January 1917 (number 344953) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 11 July 1917 - sent to England for the Officers' Training Course on 22 August 1918 - promoted to Lieutenant with the 6th Reserve Battalion, CEF, on 23 November 1918 - rejoined the 38th Battalion on 11 March 1919 - struck off the strength of the 38th Battalion on 18 June 1919.
