Private Walter Powell

Born on 23 March 1891 in Northampton, England - son of Mrs. Charlotte Powell, Northampton, England - at the time of his enlistment in 1915: trade as labour; single; currently a member of the Army Service Corps in Toronto; no previous military service; Church of England; height of 5 feet 3.5 inches; chest of 33.5 inches fully expanded; fair complexion; hazel eyes; fair hair, very thin.

Joined the 59th Battalion, CEF, in Smiths Falls, Ontario, on 22 January 1915 - transferred to the 38th Battalion on 22 June 1915 (number 410588) - served with the 38th Battalion during its period of garrison duty in Bermuda - landed in France with the 38th Battalion on 13 August 1916 - wounded on 30 October or 1 November 1916 - invalided to England on 1 November 1916 - rejoined the 38th Battalion on 16 June 1917 - struck off the strength of the 38th Battalion on 16 June 1919.
