Private John Henry Hughes

Born on 21 September 1870 in County Kent, England - husband of Mrs. J.H. Hughes, Kingston, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1915: trade as musician, married, currently a member of the 14th Regiment (bandsman), previously served with the Dorchester Regiment in England, Church of England, height of 5 feet 3.5 inches, chest of 34.5 inches fully expanded, ruddy complexion, blue eyes, black hair.

Joined the 38th Battalion, CEF, in Barriefield Camp, Ontario, on 2 July 1915 (number 410312) - served with the 38th Battalion during its period of garrison duty in Bermuda - struck off the strength of the 38th Battalion in England on 18 July 1916 - later served with the Canadian Ordnance Corps.
