Born on 10 November 1894 in Ottawa, Ontario - son of B.J. Hunt, Ottawa, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1917: present address in Renfrew, Ontario, trade as sheet metal worker, single, no current or previous military service, Church of England, height of 5 feet 8 inches, chest of 37.5 inches fully expanded, fair complexion, blue eyes, fair hair.

Joined the Railway Construction and Forestry Depot, CEF, in Ottawa, Ontario, on 19 June 1917 (number 1042063) - taken on the strength of the Canadian Forestry Corps in France on 28 July 1917 - transferred to the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 6 or 7 October 1918 - struck off the strength of the 38th Battalion on 16 June 1919.
