Lance-Corporal Joseph Bromley

Born on 22 August 1889 in Manchester, England - son of John Bromley, Manchester, England - enlistment records note the following: trade as labourer, single, no current military service, previously served one year with the 36th Peel Regiment, Roman Catholic, height of 5 feet 6.5 inches, chest of 35 inches fully expanded, fresh complexion, blue eyes, dark brown hair.

Joined the 38th Canadian Infantry Battalion in Brockville, Ontario, on 25 March 1915 (number 410459) - served with the 38th Battalion during its period of garrison duty in Bermuda - landed in France with the 38th Battalion on 13 August 1916 - killed in action on 18 November 1916 - buried in Regina Trench Cemetery (grave II.D.9), France.
