Joined the 166th Battalion, CEF, in Toronto, Ontario, on 1 February 1916 (number 669729) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 27 November or 1 December 1916 - wounded at duty on 13 May 1917 - wounded on 12 August 1917 - invalided to England on 17 August 1917 - rejoined the 38th Battalion on 12 April 1918 - killed in action on 29 September 1918 - buried in Bourlon Wood Cemetery (grave II.A.9), France.
