Private Edward Rutter

Born on 8 March 1887 in Southampton, England - son of Mrs. Frank Rutter, Aldermorn[?], Southampton, England - at the time of his enlistment in 1915: trade as labourer; single; no current military service; previously served with the Hampshire Volunteers (six months); Church of England; height of 5 feet 6.5 inches; chest of 38 inches fully expanded; ruddy complexion; hazel eyes; black hair.

Joined the 38th Battalion, CEF, in Ottawa, Ontario, on 3 March 1915 (number 410270) - transferred to the 2nd Battalion, CEF, on 25 August 1915 - wounded on 4 September 1915 - promoted to acting Sergeant.
