Private Bernard Hartley

Born on 2 January 1895 in Black Rock, New York - son of Mrs. WJ Hartley, Chapneau, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1916: trade as clerk, single, no current or previous military service, Church of England, height of 5 feet 9.75[?] inches, chest of 38.5 inches fully expanded, fair complexion, blue eyes, light brown hair.

Joined the 207th Battalion, CEF, in Ottawa, Ontario, on 24 February 1916 (number 246005) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 26 or 27 September 1918 - invalided sick to England on 10 February 1919.
