Joined the 156th Battalion, CEF, in Brockville, Ontario, on 5 February 1916 (number 639300) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 24 May 1917 - wounded on 28 July 1917 - struck off the strength of the 38th Battalion and transferred to the Canadian Labour Pool on 8 June 1918.
