Born on 25 February 1889 in Omaha, Nebraska, USA - son of W.R. Ball, Deer Mound, Alberta - attestation form notes trade as motor mechanic, single, no current or previous military service, height of 5 feet 6.25 inches, chest of 37 inches, weight of 147 pounds, fair complexion, blue eyes, light brown hair, Wesleyan.

Joined the 51st Canadian Infantry Battalion on 26 January 1915 (number 436610) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion in France on 6 October 1916 - died on 18 November 1916 of wounds received that day - buried in Contay British Cemetery, France.
