Born on 31 August 1895 in Trenton, Ontario - brother of Mrs. Minnie Wright, Trenton, Ontario - at the time of his conscription in 1918: present address in Trenton, Ontario; single; Church of England; trade as clerk; no current or previous military service; height of 5 feet 5.5 inches; chest of 38.5 inches fully expanded; fair complexion; blue eyes; brown hair.

Conscripted into the 1st Depot Battalion, CEF, in Kingston, Ontario, on 5 April 1918 (number 3057663) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 12 or 13 September 1918 - wounded on 28 September 1918 - invalided to England on 30 September 1918.
