Lieutenant Ralph Paton Ziegler

Born on 24 December 1888 in Birkenhead, Cheshire, England - husband of Mrs. R.P. Ziegler, Ottawa, Ontario - at the time of his commissioning in 1915: trade as cotton merchant; married; currently a member of the Governor General's Foot Guards; previously served with the 1st Battalion, Cheshire Engineers (about two years) and the 4th Battalion, Cheshire Regiment (five years); Presbyterian; height of 6 feet 0 inches; chest of 39 inches fully expanded; ruddy complexion; grey eyes; auburn hair.

Joined the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 7 June 1915 - served with the 38th Battalion during its period of garrison duty in Bermuda - landed in France with the 38th Battalion on 13 August 1916 - invalided sick to England on 27 December 1916 - seconded to the Royal Flying Corps from 5 November 1917 to 1 July 1918 - wounded on 25 March 1918 - later served with Military Headquarters, Ottawa - promoted to captain.
