Awarded a Mention-in-Despatches - no official citation - unit recommendation dated 7 November 1917: "Throughout operations Oct. 29th to Nov. 2/17 this man displayed conspicuous courage and devotion. He worked most courageously and unceasingly as a S.B. and later volunteered to act as runner."
