Private Frederick Stilwell

Born on 19 February 1896 in Brockville, Ontario - son of Charles Stilwell, Salmon Arm, British Columbia - brother of Private William Charles Stilwell, 38th Battalion, CEF - at the time of his enlistment in 1915: trade as sailor; no current military service; previously served with HMCS Niobe (three years) and No.2 CASC (Montreal, four years); Presbyterian; height of 5 feet 6 inches; chest of 34.75 inches fully expanded; fresh complexion; blue eyes; dark brown hair.

Joined the 38th Battalion, CEF, in Brockville, Ontario, on 5 March 1915 (number 410703) - transferred to the 2nd Battalion, CEF, on 25 August 1915 - wounded on 2 February 1916 - transferred to the Canadian Forestry Corps, CEF, on 16 June 1917.
