Private William Gardiner

Born on 2 March 1881 in Glasgow, Scotland - son of Margaret Gardiner, Glasgow, Scotland - at the time of his enlistment in 1916: present address in Columbia Station, Ohio, trade as stone cutter, single, no current military service, previously served with the 3rd Lanarak (four years as a private), Presbyterian, height of 5 feet 3.75 inches, chest of 36.5 inches fully expanded, fresh complexion, grey eyes, fair hair.

Joined the 166th Battalion, CEF, in Toronto, Ontario, on 25 February 1916 (number 669860) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 27 November or 1 December 1916 - wounded on 10 or 13 April 1917 - invalided to England on 16 April 1917.
