Private Edward Welland Gemmill

Born on 1 February 1898 in Pakenham, Ontario - son of Ernest Welland and Edna B. Gemmill, Pakenham, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1917: present address in Kingston, Ontario, trade as student, single, no current or previous military service, Church of England, height of 5 feet 10 inches, chest of 41 inches fully expanded, fair complexion, light brown eyes, light brown hair.

Joined No. 3 Section, Divisional Ammunition Column, CEF, in Kingston, Ontario, on 14 March 1917 (number 2043038) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 11 or 12 July 1917 - wounded on 26 October 1917 - died of his wounds on 3 November 1917 - buried in Nine Elms British Cemetery (grave VII.C.22), Belgium.
