Joined the 59th Canadian Infantry Battalion in Lindsay, Ontario, on 19 March 1915 - transferred to the 38th Canadian Infantry Battalion on 22 June 1915 (number 410699) - served with the 38th Battalion during its period of garrison duty in Bermuda - landed in France with the 38th Battalion on 13 August 1916 - invalided sick to England on 22 December 1916 - rejoined the 38th Battalion on 10 August 1918 - wounded on 2 September 1918 - rejoined the 38th Battalion on 2 November 1918 - struck off the strength of the 38th Battalion on 18 January 1919.
