Joined the 156th Canadian Infantry Battalion in Brockville, Ontario, on 22 February 1916 (number 639687) - taken on the strength of the 38th Canadian Infantry Battalion in France on 24 May 1917 - wounded on 12 April 1918 - rejoined the 38th Battalion on 15 May 1918 - wounded on 27 or 28 September 1918 - invalided to England on 2 October 1918.
