Private George William Sutherby

Born on 6 December 1890 in Duluth, Minnesota - son of John and Sarah Sutherby, Point Anne, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1916: present address in Williamsford, Ontario; trade as engineer; single; no current or previous military service; Methodist; height of 5 feet 7 inches; chest of 37.5 inches fully expanded; fair complexion; blue eyes; fair hair.

Joined the 147th Battalion, CEF, in Owen Sound, Ontario, on 15 February 1916 (number 838900) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 26 or 27 June 1917 - died on 30 October 1917 of wounds received that day - buried in Nine Elms British Cemetery (grave VI.B.14), Belgium.
