Born on 27 August 1886 in Ocker-Hill, Staffordshire, England - son of Mrs. Mary Scott, London, England - at the time of his enlistment in 1916: present address in Detroit, Michigan; trade as bookkeeper; single; no current or previous military service; Church of England; height of 5 feet 7.75 inches; chest of 36 inches fully expanded; fair complexion; grey eyes; brown hair.

Joined No.2 Overseas Army Service Corps Training Depot, CEF, in Amherstburg, Ontario, on 31 October 1916 (number 513134) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 11 or 12 July 1917 - wounded on 2 or 3 September 1918 - invalided to England on 4 September 1918.
