I would love to know if this Frederick Arnold Rowlandson is my great uncle. If so born in Madras, India, in 1878. My grandmother's eldest brother - she was Clare Rosamund Rowlandson. It is know he went to Canada and served in the Canadian Expeditionary Force. We know nothing about what happened after that, though our family tree states he died in Canada in 1922. As children the family of 5 children were sent back from India on death of mother, and brought up by their grandmother who was the grand daughter of Elizabeth Fry, the Quaker Prison Reformer.

Sorry for the delay in responding. Unfortunately, his enlistment records do not appear digitized on the Library and Archives site. However, the sailing list for the 28th Battalion - his original unit - does not he was born in India. Beyond that, I don't have any information, but you could order his military service record from LAC at http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/databases/cef/001042-119.01-e.php?&id_nbr=616615&interval=20&&PHPSESSID=k53btp1rnnnb2d5fskgu923gm2

Thanks, Ken
