Born on 21 April 1893 in Toronto, Ontario - husband of Catharine Ross, Toronto, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1916: present address same as wife; trade as chauffeur; married; no current or previous military service; Presbyterian; height of 5 feet 4 inches; chest of 34 inches fully expanded; fresh complexion; brown eyes; brown hair.

Joined the 4th Divisional Ammunition Sub-Park, CEF, in Toronto, Ontario, on 24 April 1916 (number 1262300) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 11 or 12 July 1917 - wounded on 26 April 1918 - rejoined the 38th Battalion on 26 April 1918 - wounded on 10 or 13 August 1918 - rejoined the 38th Battalion on 19 September 1918 - struck off strength to England for duty on 29 January 1919 - later promoted to acting-corporal.
