Sergeant Walter Henry Francis Riley

Born on 12 October 1882 in London, England - next of kin listed as Mrs. Ada Riley, Westboro, Ontario (later Portsmouth, England) - at the time of his enlistment in 1915: trade as plasterer; married; currently a member of the Active Militia; previously served with the 1st Hampshire Royal Engineers (seven years, corporal); Church of England; height of 5 feet 3.5 inches; chest of 33 inches fully expanded; swarthy complexion; brown eyes; black hair.

Joined the 38th Battalion, CEF, in Ottawa, Ontario, on 20 February 1915 (number 410867) - served with the 38th Battalion during its period of garrison duty in Bermuda - landed in France with the 38th Battalion on 13 August 1916 - wounded on 18 or 20 November 1916 - invalided to England on 28 November 1916.
