Born on 23 July 1898 in Pembroke, Ontario - brother of Mordori Peever, Pembroke, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1916: present address in Pembroke, Ontario; trade as sheet metal worker; single; no current military service; previously served with the Boy Scouts; Presbyterian; height of 5 feet 5 inches; chest of 33 inches fully expanded; weight of 133 pounds; dark complexion; brown eyes; brown hair.

Joined the 240th Battalion, CEF, in Renfrew, Ontario, on 16 August 1916 (number 1042087) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 10 or 11 November 1917 - transferred to the 4th Battalion, Canadian Machine Gun Corps, CEF, on 1 May 1918 - wounded on 3 September 1918.
