Private Samuel Elsworth Bates

Born circa 1884.

Joined the 59th Battalion, CEF - transferred to the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 11 May or 10 June 1915 (number 410018) - served with the 38th Battalion during its period of garrison duty in Bermuda - landed in France with the 38th Battalion - invalided sick to England on 11 March 1918.

Died on 18 July 1957 - buried in Cataraqui Cemetery, Kingston, Ontario.
