Joined the Canadian Forestry Corps, CEF, in Ottawa, Ontario, on 25 May 1917 (number 2160943) - taken on the strength of the Canadian Forestry Corps in the field on 28 July 1917 - transferred to the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 6 or 7 October 1918 - invalided sick to England on 28 October 1918.
