Born on 26 June 1882 in Montreal, Quebec - son of Mrs. Jane Lester, Montreal, Quebec - at the time of his enlistment in 1915: present address in Toronto, Ontario; trade as labourer; single; no current military service; previously served with the Army Service Corps in the Canadian Militia (three years); Church of England; height of 5 feet 7.75 inches; chest of 38.5 inches fully expanded; dark complexion; brown eyes; black hair.

Joined the 224th Battalion, CEF, in Lindsay, Ontario, on 29 November 1915 (number 724571) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 12 or 13 September 1918 - struck off the strength of the 38th Battalion on 5 May 1919.
