Lieutenant Sidney Shields Kirby

Born on 20 November 1890 in the United States - immigrated to Canada approximately 1892 - son of Thomas Sidney Kirby, Ottawa, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1915: trade as civil engineer; single; no current military service; previously served with the 23rd Field Battery (one year); Presbyterian; height of 5 feet 10.75 inches; chest of 45 inches fully expanded; ruddy complexion; brown eyes; blonde hair.

Joined the 38th Battalion, CEF, in Ottawa, Ontario, on 15 February 1915 (number 410953) - served with the 38th Battalion during its period of garrison duty in Bermuda - commissioned as a Lieutenant on 11 March 1916 - transferred to Base Details on 28 July 1916 - served with the Canadian Railway Troops, CEF, in England from 4 September 1917 to 6 June 1918 - served as the Adjutant of the Canadian Railway Troops Depot, CEF, from 19 December 1917 to 13 February 1918.
