Corporal Edmund Myers Keenan

Born on 17 February 1892 in Clark, South Dakota - son of Steven Keenan, Seattle, Washington - at the time of his enlistment in 1916: present address in Seattle, Washington; trade as lawyer; single; no current military service; previously served with the St. Vincent's Cadet Corps (two years) and the University of Washington Cadet Corps (two years); Roman Catholic; height of 6 feet 1 inch; fresh complexion; grey eyes; brown hair.

Joined the 13th Regiment, Canadian Mounted Rifles, CEF, in Lethbridge, Alberta, on 3 June 1916 (number 228446) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 5 or 6 March 1917 - wounded on 27 June 1917 - rejoined the 38th Battalion on 2 August 1917 - wounded on 4 September 1917 - rejoined the 38th Battalion on 25 October 1917 - wounded on 10 or 12 August 1918 - invalided to England on 16 August 1918.

Recommended for an unnamed decoration, but no award - unit recommendation dated 3 July 1917: "He showed indomitable pluck and grit by continuing to carry ammunition although severely wounded during the advance on La Coulotte June 26/17."
