Born on 23 September 1883 in Nottingham, England - husband of Levinla[?] Hodge, Highgate, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1916: present address in Highgate, Ontario, trade as farmer, married, no current or previous military service, Church of England, height of 5 feet 6.25 inches, chest of 36 inches fully expanded, medium complexion, brown eyes, brown hair.

Joined the 91st Battalion, CEF, in St. Thomas, Ontario, on 10 February 1916 (number 189969) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 20 or 21 August 1916 - wounded on 1 November 1916 - invalided to England on 8 November 1916.
