Private Alfred Robert Gill

Born on 1 February 1894 in Downs, Surrey, England - brother of Albert Gill, Fingal, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1916: present address in St. Thomas, Ontario, trade as farming, single, no current or previous military service, height of 5 feet 3.75 inches, chest of 34.5 inches fully expanded, fair complexion, grey eyes, dark brown hair.

Joined the 91st Battalion, CEF, in St. Thomas, Ontario, on 25 March 1916 (number 190135) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 20 or 21 August 1916 - wounded on 1 November 1916 - invalided to England on 11 November 1916 - rejoined the 38th Battalion on 22 March 1917 - transferred to the Canadian Machine Gun Corps on 19 July 1917.
