Private James Henry Clement

Born on 9 November 1887 in Cornwall, England - son of Edwin and Sarah Clement, Toronto, Ontario - enlistment records provide the following: trade as tailoring, single, no current or previous military service, Methodist, height of 5 feet 2.5 inches, chest of 34 inches fully expanded, dark complexion, brown eyes, brown hair.

Joined the 77th Battalion, CEF, in Smiths Falls, Ontario, on 30 July 1915 (number 144452) - departed Canada for overseas on 19 June 1916 - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion in England on 6 July 1916 - landed in France with the 38th Battalion on 13 August 1916 - wounded on 18 November 1916 - invalided to England on 19 December 1916 - returned to Canada on 11 April 1917 - died in Toronto, Ontario, on 30 September 1917 - buried in Toronto (Prospect) Cemetery (grave GWVA 37), Ontario.
