Born on 10 September 1886 in Wood Green, London, England - brother of William D. Yelf, Ailsa[?] Craig, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1915: present address in Winfield, [?]; trade as farmhand; single; no current or previous military service; Church of England; height of 5 feet 9 inches; chest of 37 inches fully expanded; medium complexion; blue eyes; brown hair.

Joined the 135th Battalion, CEF, in Parkhill, [?], on 28 December 1915 (number 802474) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 8 or 9 April 1918 - struck off strength to England for demobilization on 26 April 1919.
