Sergeant Francis Lorne May

Born on 14 August 1894 in Canada - son of Mr. WC May, Ottawa, Ontario - at the time of his enlistment in 1914: trade as clerk; single; no current military service; previously served with the OCG[?] cadets (two years); Church of England; height of 5 feet 9.5 inches; chest of 37 inches fully expanded; ruddy complexion; hazel eyes; light brown hair.

Joined the 38th Battalion, CEF, in Ottawa, Ontario, on 30 December 1914 (number 410021) - transferred to the 2nd Battalion, CEF - taken on the strength of the 14th Battalion, CEF, on 28 August 1915 - killed in action on 3 June 1916 - name inscribed on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial (panel 24-26-28-30), Belgium.
