Private John Joseph McCarthy

Born on 23 December 1884 in London, England - next of kin listed as John Mackey, Port Hope, Ontario - brother of Daniel McCarthy, "Address unknown as he is at the Front" - at the time of his conscription in 1918: present address in Killaloe, Ontario; single; Roman Catholic; trade as carpenter; no current or previous military service; height of 5 feet 3 inches; chest of 35 inches fully expanded; fair complexion; dark brown eyes; black hair.

Conscripted into the 1st Depot Battalion, Eastern Ontario Regiment, CEF, in Kingston, Ontario, on 15 January 1918 (number 3056198) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 17 or 18 August 1918 - wounded on 28 September 1918 - invalided to England on 30 September 1918.
